I’ll be honest – when I first pulled up to Vigo Hotel on Limanowskiego, I wasn’t expecting much. The Baluty district isn’t exactly where tourists usually end up, but you know what? That turned out to be exactly why I liked this place. It sits in a genuinely Polish neighborhood where you’ll hear more Polish than English in the morning, and there’s something refreshing about being away from the typical hotel strip.

The building itself has that straightforward, no-nonsense vibe that grows on you. Inside, it’s clean and well-maintained without trying too hard to impress anyone – I mean, this is a solid 3-star place that knows what it is. The rooms are actually more spacious than I expected, and the beds are surprisingly comfortable (I’m picky about mattresses, so this matters). What I really appreciated was how quiet it gets at night. Even though you’re on a main street, the windows do their job, and honestly, the neighborhood settles down nicely after evening hours. The staff at reception were genuinely helpful too – not just going through the motions, but actually taking time to explain bus routes and recommend that little pierogi place around the corner that I never would’ve found otherwise.

Here’s the thing about staying in Baluty – you’re getting a real slice of Łódź life without the tourist markup. There’s a decent grocery store within walking distance, and the tram connections are actually pretty good once you figure them out (give yourself an extra day to sort out the public transport, trust me). The hotel’s 7.8 rating feels about right – it’s not going to blow you away, but it delivers on the basics really well. Parking was easier than I expected, which is always a relief when you’re navigating an unfamiliar city with a rental car. The breakfast is simple but does the job, though I’d recommend exploring some of the local cafés if you have time. One small thing – the elevators are a bit slow, so factor that in if you’re on a tight schedule. But honestly, for the price point and the authentic neighborhood experience, Vigo Hotel hits that sweet spot where you feel like you’re staying somewhere real rather than some generic business hotel bubble.

  The location for me was perfect. But that depends on what you need. Nice simple room. I have a window on the parking, so nothing disturbs me during the night with open windows. The walls look to be solid and soundproof. Or there was just empty.
  
  What could be improved: The check-in time is very inconvenient. 17:00 is a very late time. There was no garbage bin under the sink. And there was no second towel for feet.

Got woken up by the cleaning lady who barged in without even knocking, and the key in the door locked was useless as she managed to open the door regardless. Door was super hard to lock to the point that I needed to put my whole weight behind my knee and push to manage to lock it
