You know what struck me most about U Hanki? It’s this tiny apartment hotel tucked right into apartment 5u on Piotrkowska Street, and honestly, walking past it the first time, I almost missed it completely. There’s something charmingly unassuming about the whole setup – no flashy lobby or doorman, just a regular building entrance that makes you feel like you’re staying at a friend’s place rather than checking into a hotel.

But here’s the thing about being right on Piotrkowska – you’re literally in the heart of everything that makes Łódź interesting. I mean, this street is basically the longest pedestrian street in Europe (locals love mentioning that), and stepping out of U Hanki puts you smack in the middle of all the cafes, vintage shops, and that whole bohemian vibe the Srodmiescie district is known for. The building itself has that pre-war character you see all over this part of the city, with high ceilings and thick walls that actually do a decent job of keeping street noise down – though let’s be real, if you’re a super light sleeper, you might catch some late-night chatter from people walking home from the bars.

What I really appreciated was how the place feels authentically Polish without trying too hard. The rooms are clean and functional (this is a 3-star spot, so don’t expect luxury), but there’s attention to small details that matter when you’re actually living somewhere for a few days. The kitchenette setup is surprisingly practical – I actually cooked breakfast a couple times using ingredients from the little market just down the street. Check-in was refreshingly straightforward too, none of that overly formal hotel reception desk drama. The 8.6 rating makes perfect sense when you consider what you’re getting for the price point – it’s not trying to be something it’s not, just solid accommodation in an unbeatable location. If you’re the type who wants to experience Łódź like you live there rather than just passing through, and you don’t need someone to carry your bags or fold your towels into swans, this little place on Piotrkowska delivers exactly what it promises.

  Idealny apartament w sercu miasta dla dwóch osób. Lokalizacja tuż przy Piotrkowskiej, ale na tyle oddzielone bramą do studni, że hałasy się nie niosą i można się komfortowo wyspać. Na wyposażeniu wszystko co tylko potrzebne w trakcie pobytu. Bezproblemowy kontakt z bardzo miłą właścicielką. Serdecznie polecam!

  Все необхідне в апартаментах є. Було тепло, чисто , все працювало.

  Good, clear instructions and easy to find. Kitchen had everything I needed to cook some proper grub. Was also easy to go shopping and visit the main street (Piotrkovska?) and was able to stay out as late as I wanted at all of Lodz's wonderful shot bars knowing I had a nice, snug bed to crawl into just around the corner. Shops, restaurants, nightlife and public transport are all within walking distance. Good correspondance with host, too. 100% recommend and next time I come to Lodz, I will be staying again!
