Star Apartment City Center Overview

Look, I’ll be honest with you – when I first pulled up to Star Apartment City Center on Ulica Gdanska, I wasn’t expecting much from a 3-star place. But you know what? Sometimes the best finds are the ones that catch you off guard. This little gem sits right in the heart of Łódź’s city center, and I mean literally – you’re maybe a five-minute walk from Piotrkowska Street, which is basically where all the life happens in this city.

The thing about this place is it’s actually an apartment-style setup (hence the name), which means you get way more space than your typical cramped hotel room. I’m talking a proper kitchenette where you can actually make coffee that doesn’t taste like cardboard, plus enough room to spread out your stuff without living out of a suitcase. The building itself is one of those solid Polish structures – thick walls, so you won’t hear your neighbors through paper-thin walls like in some modern hotels. I stayed there during a busy weekend in summer, and honestly, it was surprisingly quiet for being right in the center of things.

What really impressed me was how the staff actually seemed to care about the details. Check-in was smooth, they knew the neighborhood inside and out (asked them about good pierogi spots and got three solid recommendations), and the apartment was genuinely clean – I mean the kind of clean where you don’t feel weird about walking barefoot. The 9.2 rating makes total sense once you’re there; it’s not trying to be fancy, but everything just works the way it should. You’ve got solid WiFi, hot water that stays hot, and honestly, the bed was way more comfortable than I expected. The location is what really seals the deal though – you can walk to the main shopping areas, there’s a decent selection of restaurants within a few blocks, and if you need to catch a tram or bus, the stops are right there. I actually ended up extending my stay an extra night because it felt more like having a temporary apartment in the city rather than just being another tourist passing through a hotel lobby.

To book hotel in Lodz during the famous Camerimage Film Festival season, visitors should make reservations well in advance as the city attracts film enthusiasts and industrial heritage lovers from around the world.

  • Exceptional – Canser from Turkey – July 16, 2025 (10/10)

I'd like to thank the apartment manager for responding to emails so quickly and preventing us from getting into a difficult situation. She was also excellent in letting our bags into the building early. It has all the amenities for a family. If we ever come to Lodz again, I'd choose this place again.

What could be improved: Since the building is old, soundproof isn' t very good. Sorry for neighbors who heard the sounds of our kid running of joy at 9 pm.

  • Charming apartment from bygone era – Arturas from Lithuania – August 11, 2023 (9/10)

The apartment is in a very old building, very spacious, with high ceilings and certain old-days charm. Designated parking spot in the enclosed courtyard. Quiet location on a side street, within 10 min walk from the central promenade. Easy arrival and self-check-in with the provided access codes, although you will need to first enter the apartment to collect the remote control before you could open the courtyard gate to drive in with the car.

What could be improved: Missed a microwave 🙂 Overall nothing to complain about as I felt the apartment provided very good value for money.

  • The best check in experience. Flat in close proximity to pedestrian zone with a lots of restaurants. – Nikola from Latvia – July 30, 2023 (9/10)

The Best check-in experience I have ever had. Host was very kind and on the matter as our arrival was approaching.
Flat in close proximity to the pedestrian zone with a lot of bars and restaurants. Accommodation is specious and with a very nice retro furniture, incorporated with modern elements.
