I’ll be honest – when I first walked up to Promised Land – Piotrkowska 37, I wasn’t expecting much from a 3-star place. But you know what? Sometimes the best surprises come in unassuming packages, and this little gem on Łódź’s famous pedestrian street completely changed my mind about what a mid-range hotel can be.

The location is actually perfect if you want to experience the real Łódź. You’re right in the heart of Piotrkowska Street – Europe’s longest pedestrian thoroughfare, which sounds fancy but really just means you can stumble out the front door and find everything you need. There’s this great coffee shop about two doors down where locals actually hang out (not just tourists), and honestly, the street gets pretty lively on weekends but quiets down nicely by midnight. I was worried about noise, but the rooms facing the courtyard are surprisingly peaceful. The front-facing ones have more character with those big windows overlooking the street action, though you might hear some chatter if you’re a light sleeper.

What really impressed me was how the staff seemed to actually care – and I mean that in a genuine way, not the rehearsed hospitality you get at chain hotels. The guy at reception (I think his name was Marcin?) gave me this whole rundown of where to find the best pierogi in the neighborhood and which tram lines to avoid during rush hour. Those are the kinds of insider tips you just can’t Google. The rooms themselves are clean and well-maintained, nothing fancy but everything works properly – which is more than I can say for some pricier places I’ve stayed. The Wi-Fi is solid throughout the building, the showers have good water pressure, and there’s decent soundproofing between rooms. I appreciated the little touches too, like having a proper desk if you need to work and blackout curtains that actually block light.

Here’s what makes this place special though – it sits right in Śródmieście district, which means you’re walking distance to all the main attractions but also close to authentic neighborhood spots that haven’t been completely touristified yet. You can walk to Manufaktura shopping center in about fifteen minutes, but you can also discover these amazing little galleries and bars tucked into old industrial buildings that most visitors never find. The breakfast isn’t included, but there’s a bakery across the street that opens at 6 AM and serves the kind of fresh bread that makes hotel continental breakfast seem sad by comparison.

Look, this isn’t going to be the fanciest place you’ve ever stayed, but that 9.2 rating isn’t accidental. It’s the kind of hotel where you feel like you’re actually staying in Łódź rather than just passing through it. If you’re the type of traveler who values location, genuine service, and getting a real feel for a city over marble lobbies and overpriced minibars, you’ll probably love it here as much as I did.

  Very good communication with the host, entry with a code. Very easy.
  Very good location. Quiet but in the middle of everything. Even (paid) parking is available if needed.
  Clean, and all facilities that you need are there. It is small but you do not miss a thing. They even thought about fabric hotel slippers for your convenience. Complete kitchen equipment. Nightlamps near the bed. Enough electricity sockets. Good curtains. Nice balcony.
  Beautiful photo/history books available about Lodz. Nice old posters on the wall about former inhabitants of Ul Piotrowska. You can see that the owners paid attention to the decoration of the apartment and thought about the atmosphere for guests, it is all done with love and dedication.
  
  What could be improved: All was very good for a stay in April! The stairs are sometimes a bit challenging, but that can also be due to my age 🙂

  Apartment is tiny, but nice and cozy. It's conveniently located and has everything the guest might need. Great design, wifi worked fine, it was easy to move in and out using codes. This place will be my choice if I'm back to Łódź 🙂
