Polonia Apartments Overview

Honestly, I wasn’t expecting much when I first pulled up to Polonia Apartments on Narutowicza Street – I mean, it’s tucked into this pretty residential stretch in Śródmieście, and from the outside it looks like, well, just another apartment building. But you know what? That’s actually part of its charm. The moment you step inside, there’s this immediate sense that you’re staying somewhere locals would actually live, not some sterile hotel bubble.

The apartments themselves are surprisingly spacious – and I’m talking about real space, not that cramped “European cozy” thing you sometimes get stuck with. Mine had this little kitchenette that was actually functional (shocking, I know), and the bathroom was modern enough that I didn’t feel like I was camping. What really struck me was how quiet it was at night, even though you’re right in the heart of Łódź. The street gets some traffic during the day, but it dies down completely after 9 PM or so. The windows are solid, which helps, and honestly the whole building just feels well-maintained in a way that gives you confidence in your choice.

Here’s the thing about the location that booking sites won’t tell you – you’re about a 15-minute walk to Piotrkowska Street, which is basically where all the action happens in Łódź, but you’re far enough away that you can actually get some sleep. There’s a decent grocery store just two blocks down if you want to use that kitchen, and I discovered this little bakery around the corner that does incredible szarlotka (Polish apple cake, trust me on this one). The tram connections are solid too – the nearest stop is maybe five minutes away, and you can get pretty much anywhere in the city from there. I actually ended up walking most places because Łódź is way more walkable than people give it credit for, but it’s nice to have options. The staff speaks English well enough, though they seemed genuinely surprised when I complimented them on the place – apparently not everyone takes the time to notice the little touches, like how they stock the apartments with actual coffee, not just those sad instant packets.

Exploring Lodz offers visitors an unforgettable journey through Poland’s creative renaissance, from its historic textile factories to its world-renowned film school and dynamic cultural scene.
