Zarzewska is one of those streets where you can walk to Piotrkowska (the main pedestrian drag) in about five minutes, but it’s tucked away enough that you’re not dealing with weekend party noise echoing off the buildings at 2 AM. The building itself has that solid, no-nonsense Polish architecture feel – nothing fancy, but you get the sense it’ll outlast whatever trendy boutique hotel opens down the block next year.

What really struck me was how the place manages to feel like, well, an actual apartment – which makes sense given the name. The rooms have this lived-in comfort that you don’t usually get in hotels, even the good ones. There’s proper counter space in the kitchen area (trust me, this matters when you’re trying to make morning coffee and deal with all your charging cables), and the windows actually open wide enough to let in some fresh air. I stayed there during one of those muggy July weeks, and honestly, being able to create a cross-breeze made all the difference. The furnishings aren’t going to win any design awards, but everything works – and after staying in places where the shower barely trickles or the wifi cuts out every ten minutes, “everything works” starts to feel pretty luxurious.

The 9.1 rating isn’t just inflated review padding either. The owner clearly pays attention to the small stuff that guests actually care about. Check-in was smooth (they send you detailed instructions beforehand, which saved me from standing around looking confused with my luggage), and when I had a question about parking, they got back to me within an hour with three different options nearby. You’re not going to find 24-hour room service or a concierge who can get you theater tickets, but for exploring Łódź – hitting up the Manufaktura complex, wandering through the street art in the old industrial areas, or just finding a decent pierogi place that’s not tourist-trap expensive – this works perfectly as a base. Plus, there’s something refreshing about staying somewhere that feels more like borrowing a friend’s apartment than occupying a sterile hotel room. It’s the kind of place where you might actually end up cooking breakfast instead of hunting down an overpriced hotel restaurant, and somehow that makes the whole trip feel more authentic.
