So I stumbled upon Lewa Łódź during one of those “let’s try something different” trips to Poland, and honestly? It turned out to be one of those pleasant surprises you don’t see coming. The place sits right on Lewa street in the Baluty district – not exactly the touristy center, but that’s actually what I ended up loving about it. You’re staying where real Łódź happens, you know? The neighborhood has this authentic Polish residential vibe, with tree-lined streets and those beautiful pre-war buildings that somehow survived everything this city has been through.

The hotel itself is housed in what looks like a converted ground floor space (they call it “parter” locally), and while it’s definitely a 3-star setup, they’ve done something smart with the interiors. Clean lines, decent lighting, and – this might sound weird – but the place actually smells fresh, not like that generic hotel air freshener most places seem to drown themselves in. My room was smaller than what you’d get at some chain hotel, but everything worked properly, which is more than I can say for some pricier places I’ve stayed. The bed was genuinely comfortable too, not just “hotel comfortable” if you know what I mean.

What really won me over was how the staff seemed to actually care about getting things right. Check-in was smooth, and when I mentioned I was trying to figure out the best way to get to Piotrkowska Street (that’s the main pedestrian strip everyone talks about), they didn’t just point vaguely – they pulled out a local bus map and showed me the exact stops. It’s maybe a 15-minute ride to the city center, which honestly felt perfect. Close enough that you’re not stuck in the suburbs, but far enough that you can escape the weekend crowds when you want to just walk around and breathe a bit. Parking was straightforward too, which anyone who’s driven in Polish cities will tell you is not something to take for granted. The area gets pretty quiet in the evenings – I mean, you’ll hear the occasional tram in the distance, but it’s not the kind of street noise that keeps you up. And here’s something I didn’t expect: there’s a decent little café about two blocks away that opens early and serves proper coffee, not just the instant stuff. Perfect for those mornings when you want to ease into the day before hitting the tourist spots. The 8/10 rating this place gets makes complete sense to me – it’s not trying to be fancy, but it nails the basics and then adds just enough character to make you remember why you picked it over the cookie-cutter alternatives.

  Czysto, w dogodnej lokalizacji (poza centrum, więc cisza i spokój), dobrze skomunikowane z najważniejszymi/najciekawszymi miejscami Łodzi. Jeśli podróżujecie z psem dużym plusem będzie spora ilość terenów zielonych do spaceru z czworonogiem.
