Hotel Flora Overview

You know what caught me off guard about Hotel Flora? I was expecting another generic mid-range spot in Łódź, but this place actually has some character to it. It’s tucked away on Hodowlana street in the Baluty district – honestly, I had to double-check my GPS the first time because it’s not exactly where most tourists end up, but that turned out to be part of its charm.

The building itself feels refreshingly unpretentious for a 3-star hotel. When I walked into the lobby, there wasn’t any of that trying-too-hard modern minimalism you see everywhere now – just clean, comfortable spaces that feel like someone actually thought about how real people move through them. The staff at check-in were genuinely helpful (spoke solid English, which isn’t always a given in this part of town), and I appreciated that they knew the neighborhood well enough to give me actual directions to places instead of just pointing vaguely down the street. The rooms are what you’d expect for the price point, but here’s the thing – they’re thoughtfully laid out. I mean, someone clearly considered that travelers need places to put their stuff that aren’t just the bed or the floor.

What really sold me on this place was its location, though you might not realize it at first glance. Sure, you’re not in the thick of the city center, but Baluty has this authentic working-class vibe that gives you a real sense of what daily life in Łódź actually looks like. There’s a decent tram connection that’ll get you to Piotrkowska Street (the main drag) in about fifteen minutes, and honestly, I found myself enjoying those rides – you get to see parts of the city that most visitors miss entirely. Plus, parking here is actually manageable, which anyone who’s tried to find a spot near the Old Town will appreciate. The neighborhood gets pretty quiet after dark, so if you’re someone who needs absolute silence to sleep, you’ll be happy. Morning brings the gentle sounds of people heading to work and the occasional tram – it’s city life without the chaos. I’d definitely stay at Hotel Flora again, especially if I wanted to experience Łódź like less of a tourist and more like someone who actually knows their way around.

To book hotel in Lodz during the famous Camerimage Film Festival season, visitors should make reservations well in advance as the city attracts film enthusiasts and industrial heritage lovers from around the world.

Reviews of Hotel Flora

  • Nice family friendly guesthouse style hotel – Nenna from Finland – August 2, 2025 (9/10)

Free parking with surveillance cameras, beautiful old gesthouse style building and garden, quiet, large family rooms with bottleled still and sparking water, clean sheets and towels, warm water, soap and shampoo/shower gel bottles, tea, sugar and a kettle. Room was clean, stylish with beds for 5, 2 beds up in the loft, super good value for the money compairing to other options in this price in Poland. All services quite near like lidl, Kebab kiosk and even a super cheap gas station right next to the hotel. Nice workers that spoke some english. We were a family of 5 on a road trip and spent one night here, would have been nice even for a bit longer stay if the area is where you are visiting. Windows has a good mosquito nets so you can open them to coold for the night, tempersture was good in the summer in the room.

What could be improved: The breakfast was extra 7e but not so good as most meat was pork and we eat halal, also not much options, so we didnt take it. Important to notice that people with disabilities might find it difficult to come here as there is no elevator and the rooms are upstairs and there are stairs in the room also to the loft.

  • Good – Laura from Lithuania – June 21, 2025 (7/10)

Free parking, well sized room, clean linen, set of towels and shampoo, tea set and water for every guest. Reminded of hospital a bit, but tidy, neet.

What could be improved: Tv only in polish, but there is wifi.

  • Very Good – Stephen from Canada – May 29, 2025 (8/10)

The hotel was quaint and ultimately comfortable. Relatively straightforward to find (signage a little old, missed the first time). Good secure-ish parking. Great value.

What could be improved: Nothing really. It is basic and does exactly what was expected.

  • Very Good – Stan from Canada – July 18, 2024 (8/10)

  • Good location for traveling through Poland. – Aiga from United Kingdom – July 23, 2023 (8/10)

Easy checking in, room had decent space for family of 4. Parking free just by the hotel.

What could be improved: It's a little old fashion style but we didn't mind.

  • Nice one night stay – G from Lithuania – July 9, 2023 (8/10)

I once srayed for the night in 2018. liket it so chose again to stay for the night . Nice staff, friendly. Place is quet in far from center place so no cars buzzing around – drove 628 km so like to chill in quet place. Beds are comfortable , Got soap and showergel. We got loft room with four single beds two first floor and two on a second floor- children are happy.

What could be improved: Need some cosmetic renew , bathrooms are bit old but clean, have to wait for a warm water to begin. Our room was dark because of small windom overgrown with plants. Would be nice to have fridge. Staff hardly talk english , but it was ok for me , because I new a bit. On weekends there might be some party like birthday , then it is bit noisy. No grocery shops near. Hard to find.
