The kitchen was actually functional (not just for show), and the windows faced away from the main street noise, so mornings were wonderfully quiet. I’d wake up to the sounds of the neighborhood coming to life rather than traffic, which made all the difference. The Baluty area itself is interesting too – it’s got this authentic, lived-in vibe that’s way more genuine than the touristy center, but you’re still only about a 15-minute tram ride from all the main attractions in Łódź.

What surprised me most was the attention to detail from the hosts. Check-in was smooth (they actually responded to messages quickly, which seems rare these days), and they’d left recommendations for local spots that weren’t just the obvious tourist traps. There’s this little bakery about two blocks away that does incredible pączki – definitely not something you’d find in a guidebook, but exactly the kind of discovery that makes a trip memorable. The apartment stayed consistently comfortable throughout my week there, and the Wi-Fi was solid enough for video calls, which I definitely needed for work. Sure, it’s not going to have a fancy concierge or room service, but that’s sort of the point – you get the independence of having your own space without sacrificing comfort. If you’re the type of traveler who prefers exploring a city like a temporary local rather than being pampered in a hotel bubble, this place really delivers on that experience.
