I mean, there’s real personality in the space – the kind of thoughtful touches that make you think the owner genuinely cares about your experience. The kitchen is properly stocked (not just a sad mini-fridge and a broken coffee maker), and the bed is honestly one of the most comfortable I’ve slept in during my travels through Poland. What really impressed me was how quiet it gets at night. You’d think being in the city you’d hear traffic or neighbors, but the windows are surprisingly good at keeping the sound out. The internet connection is solid too – I was working remotely during part of my stay and never had issues with video calls or uploads.

Here’s the thing about staying in Baluty that most guidebooks won’t tell you – you’re actually in a really authentic part of Łódź where locals live and work. There’s this fantastic little market about a ten-minute walk away where vendors know each other’s names, and you can grab fresh bread and produce for way less than you’d pay in the tourist areas. Getting to the main attractions is easy enough (the tram connections are decent), but I found myself spending more time just wandering the neighborhood and discovering these random murals and converted industrial spaces that have so much character. The check-in process was smooth – no standing around in a lobby with your luggage while someone types slowly into an ancient computer system. Just straightforward communication and clear instructions. Parking can be a bit tricky if you’re driving, but honestly, you don’t really need a car here anyway. The only minor thing I’d mention is that the building entrance is sort of understated, so you might walk past it the first time if you’re not paying attention. But that’s actually kind of charming in a way – it feels like you’re staying at a friend’s place rather than some obvious tourist accommodation. For the price point and that 9.7 rating, I can see why people keep coming back to this spot.
