DoubleTree by Hilton Łódź Overview

I’ll be honest – when I first pulled up to DoubleTree by Hilton Łódź on Łąkowa street, I wasn’t expecting much. I mean, Łódź isn’t exactly on everyone’s Polish bucket list, you know? But this place actually surprised me in the best way possible.

The thing about this hotel is that it sits right in this sweet spot where you’re close enough to walk to Piotrkowska Street (the main pedestrian drag that everyone talks about) but far enough away that you’re not dealing with weekend party noise. And honestly, that matters more than you’d think when you’re trying to sleep off a day of exploring the city’s incredible street art scene. The whole area around Łąkowa has this residential feel that I actually preferred to being right in the thick of tourist central – there’s a proper grocery store nearby, some local cafes where you’ll hear more Polish than English, that sort of thing.

What really got me was the attention to detail inside. Sure, you get that signature DoubleTree chocolate chip cookie at check-in (still warm, obviously), but the rooms feel genuinely thoughtful. The beds are those crisp white hotel beds that somehow manage to be both firm and soft, and the bathrooms have enough counter space that you’re not playing Tetris with your toiletries. I stayed on the fifth floor facing the courtyard, which meant it was properly quiet – none of that street noise you sometimes get in city hotels. The air conditioning actually works well too, which… well, if you’ve traveled around Eastern Europe in summer, you’ll appreciate that’s not always a given.

The breakfast situation deserves a mention because it goes beyond your typical continental spread. They do this mix of international stuff and Polish classics – proper kielbasa, fresh bread that’s clearly baked on-site, and decent coffee that doesn’t taste like it’s been sitting around since dawn. I found myself lingering there longer than usual, partly because the dining area has these big windows that let in tons of natural light, and partly because the staff seemed genuinely happy to chat about what to see in the city.

Speaking of staff – and this might sound small but it’s huge when you’re traveling – they actually know the area. Ask them about getting to Manufaktura shopping center or the best tram route to the train station, and you’ll get real directions, not just “take a taxi.” The concierge even steered me toward this fantastic pierogi place on Piotrkowska that I never would have found otherwise.

Look, Łódź isn’t Warsaw or Krakow, but that’s exactly why it’s interesting. And this hotel gets that – it’s polished enough that you feel looked after, but it doesn’t try to be something it’s not. The 9.2 rating makes sense when you actually stay here. It’s the kind of place where everything just works the way it should, without any fuss or pretense. If you’re doing the off-the-beaten-path Poland thing, or even just need a solid base for exploring the region, you could do a lot worse than this spot.

  • On the pricey side but worth the standard – Natalia from United Kingdom – July 23, 2025 (10/10)

Great hotel and room, amazing views. We had an upgrade just for £4, very worth it. Clean, quiet, organised. We chose the location for proximity to Atlas Arena for a concert – great choice. Vibrant bar after the event, full of other attendees.

What could be improved: All was good, nothing to complain about.

  • Great! A memorable trip with my mum for the right reasons. – Clair from United Kingdom – July 23, 2025 (9/10)

Location was ideal as we needed the arena. Staff were friendly and helpful especially with the language barrier. Food was great. They were accommodating with our earlier than check in flight/arrival time. Facilities and room were clean.

What could be improved: Nothing really.
