DarkHouse Red Overview

You know what caught me off guard about DarkHouse Red? Despite the edgy name, this place actually has a pretty warm vibe once you step inside. I’ll be honest – when I first walked up to 42 Kilińskiego Street, the dark exterior had me wondering what I’d gotten myself into, but the staff at check-in were genuinely friendly, not the gothic scene I was half-expecting.

The location is honestly perfect if you want to explore Łódź’s revitalized center without dealing with the tourist crowds. Śródmieście has this interesting mix of old industrial architecture and new cafes, and you’re literally a five-minute walk from Piotrkowska Street – which, if you haven’t been, is this massive pedestrian zone that feels like the heartbeat of the city. I mean, you could easily spend hours just wandering the galleries and little bars tucked into former factory spaces. The hotel sits in a quieter pocket though, so you’re not dealing with late-night street noise (trust me, that matters when you’re trying to sleep off all that Polish beer).

What I really appreciated was how the rooms felt bigger than typical 3-star properties – maybe it’s because they converted an older building and kept some of the original proportions? The red accents throughout aren’t overwhelming like I feared they might be; more like thoughtful pops of color that tie into the branding without making you feel like you’re sleeping in a theme park. Parking was surprisingly manageable too, which anyone who’s driven in Polish city centers will tell you is no small feat. The 7.7 rating makes sense to me – it’s solid without trying to be something it’s not. You’re not getting luxury amenities, but honestly, who needs a spa when you’ve got the incredible OFF Piotrkowska complex just down the street? That place used to be a factory and now it’s this amazing cultural hub with restaurants and shops that locals actually hang out at, not just tourists. DarkHouse Red gets the fundamentals right – clean, comfortable, well-positioned – and sometimes that’s exactly what you need when you want to spend your time exploring rather than lounging in your room.

Many travelers prefer to book apartments in Lodz through trusted local agencies that provide insider knowledge about the best neighborhoods for experiencing the city’s industrial heritage and cultural transformation.

Reviews of DarkHouse Red

  • Świetne miejsce na krótki pobyt, rewelacyjna lokazliacja i dobra komunikacja z obsługą! – Oskar from Poland – August 3, 2025 (9/10)

Świetna lokalizacja w Łodzi, sprawna komunikacja i możliwość zabrania małego psa ze sobą. Stosunek ceny do jakości bardzo dobry. Polecam na krótki wypad, przyjemnie, czysto i bezproblemowo!!

What could be improved: WiFi działało bardzo kiepsko, jeżeli ktoś nie jest przyzwyczajony do miasta to może się przestraszyć oficyną, w której mieści się obiekt (warto to wyraźnie zaznaczyć).

  • It done what it needed to do – Mark from United Kingdom – February 6, 2025 (5/10)

    The decor was fine.

What could be improved: The bed was like sleeping on concrete, bathroom had no heating in it so the tiled floor was as cold as ice
    Not enough pillows or towels.

  • Good – Dzmitry from Poland – November 9, 2024 (7/10)

Convenient localization, pompous design. Convenient check-in without staff at any time, key in a code case.

What could be improved: It could have been cleaner, the shower fittings were all covered in limescale, the toilet smelled of urine, there was no air freshener. It was cold, the convector under the window was blocked at 18-20 degrees, we managed to unblock it. But! Having raised the temperature, it began to heat the window sill, but not the room, fortunately it is stone, but the curtains had to be removed for safety reasons, the temperature of the window sill was like an iron, it was already cold on the opposite side of the bed. There was no hot water in the shower or in the toilet. For some reason, the photos do not match the original, they removed one blanket and one pillow, apparently because I ordered a room for one, although in the photo there are only two of each.

  • Great room in a quite location for a short stay – Cyrielle from Poland – September 2, 2024 (8/10)

Great location in a quite street. Comfortable bed. Good contact with the host. Original interior design.

What could be improved: Very small sink, made only for cleaning hands. Because of it, the toilets get dirty very fast on the floor and walls. Lack of bed lights.

  • Exceptional – Schramm from Germany – July 7, 2024 (10/10)

Everything was fine, easy check in, clean and comfortable room, good price and the parking situation is fine (save, not expensive and just 300m from the room)

  • Satisfactory – Mojeed from Poland – April 29, 2024 (8/10)

    Location to the train station

What could be improved: Poor communication

  • Nice colours in the apartment – Anna from Poland – November 16, 2023 (9/10)

Nice colours and decorations in the apartment, easy to collect the key from the key lock.

What could be improved: Water in the toilet was cold in the morning, didn't have time to ask the owner about that.

  • Very Good – Märt from Estonia – August 2, 2023 (8/10)

    Good location

  • excellent – Nabi from Poland – July 3, 2023 (9/10)

close to city center and train station, cheap, easy to access and well facilitated,

What could be improved: no glass and plate for someone who want to eat and drink

  • Pleasant – Dagmar from Czech Republic – March 19, 2023 (6/10)

Good location, comfortable bed, everything clean.

What could be improved: Too small wash-basin, low water stream in the shower, which would otherwise be luxury. Cold floor, especially in the toilet/wash-basin room (we were there in the winter). A bit scary yard in front of the apartment.
