You know what caught me off guard about DarkHouse Karmin? The name makes it sound all moody and mysterious, but honestly, it’s actually quite bright inside – especially those front-facing rooms that look out onto Kilińskiego street. I mean, the dark wood and industrial touches give it character, but it’s not some goth hotel experience if that’s what you’re worried about.

The location is pretty solid if you want to be in the thick of things in Śródmieście without dealing with the tourist chaos around Piotrkowska. You’re literally a five-minute walk from the main pedestrian strip, but Kilińskiego itself is quieter – more of a proper street where actual locals go about their business. There’s this great little pierogi place just around the corner that I stumbled onto purely by accident, and the tram stops are close enough that you can easily get to other parts of Łódź without much hassle. Parking can be a bit of a dance though – street spots fill up during the day, so if you’re driving, maybe ask about their arrangements when you book.

What I actually appreciated most was how the staff seemed to genuinely know the city. When I asked about getting to Manufaktura (because, let’s face it, everyone ends up there), the guy at reception didn’t just point me toward the obvious tourist route – he mentioned this shortcut through the old factory district that’s actually prettier and takes half the time. The rooms themselves are comfortable enough for a 3-star place, though the walls aren’t exactly thick, so you might hear your neighbors if they’re having a particularly animated phone conversation. The beds are decent, the bathrooms are clean and modern, and there’s good water pressure – honestly, that’s half the battle with older buildings in this part of the city. The Wi-Fi actually works properly too, which isn’t always a given. Overall, it’s the kind of place where you feel like you’re staying somewhere real rather than some sanitized hotel bubble, and for the price point, that 7.8 rating makes total sense to me.

  What could be improved: Wjazd na parking bardzo wąski, trzeba wjeżdżać na złożonych lusterkach, obyło się bez zarysowań, ale podczas pobytu poruszaliśmy się komunikacją miejską. Lokal kiepsko oświetlony, w sypialni działała tylko jedna lampka nocna.

  Obiekt bardzo gustowny, klimatyczny. pościel przygotowana dla każdego , ręczników również nie brakowało. Na mieszkaniu jest zmywarka, komplet (4szt) zastawy oraz sztućców oraz 4 kubki i jeden garnek. Przy każdym łóżku kontakt. Dwa grzejniki elektryczne działające. Jest żelazko brakło deski do prasowania. W obu pokojach tv.
  
  What could be improved: Bardzo kiepski wjazd, wąski na szerokość samochodu. Wyjazd trudny 90stopni. Dla długich lub dużych samochodów bardzo trudny, nie możliwy w pojedynkę bez obrysowania samochodu. Wjazd z głównej ulicy, wymaga pozostawienia samochodu gdzieś na chodniku i biegnięcia do klatki po klucz do bramy. Sąsiedzi nie mili, mimo zakupionego miejsca parkingowego mieli do nas problem.
  Brakowało takich rzeczy jak odkurzacz lub miotła i mop. Podłoga była bardzo brudna.
