I’ll be honest – when I first pulled up to DarkHouse FONDOVALLE on Kilińskiego Street, I wasn’t sure what to expect from the name alone. But you know what? Sometimes the most interesting places are the ones that don’t try too hard to impress you from the get-go.

The location is actually pretty smart if you know Łódź at all. You’re right in Śródmieście, which means you can walk to Piotrkowska Street (the main drag) in about ten minutes, but you’re tucked away enough that you won’t hear every drunk tourist stumbling home at 2 AM. I mean, Kilińskiego isn’t the quietest street in the world, but it’s manageable – I slept fine with the windows cracked open even in summer. The building itself has this sort of industrial-chic thing going on that works well with Łódź’s whole former textile hub vibe. You’ll notice it fits right in with the neighborhood’s mix of renovated factories and newer developments.

What really surprised me was how thoughtfully they’ve designed the interior spaces. The rooms aren’t huge – this is a 3-star place, so manage your expectations – but they’ve used the space cleverly. Good lighting (which honestly makes such a difference when you’re trying to work or just unwind), decent storage, and the beds are actually comfortable. I’ve stayed in plenty of places where they clearly bought the cheapest mattresses they could find, but that’s not the case here. The bathrooms are compact but functional, with surprisingly good water pressure – something you definitely don’t take for granted when you’re traveling through Poland.

Check-in was smooth, and the staff actually seemed to know the area well when I asked about dinner recommendations. They pointed me toward a couple of spots on nearby streets that weren’t just the obvious tourist traps. Parking can be a bit of a puzzle if you’re driving – street parking is hit or miss, but there are a few paid lots within a couple blocks if you don’t mind walking a little. The 7.4 rating makes sense to me – it’s solidly good without being fancy, and honestly, that’s exactly what I want when I’m exploring a city like Łódź. You’re paying for a clean, comfortable base camp, not a resort experience, and DarkHouse delivers on that promise. Plus, being this close to the city center means you can easily walk to most of the interesting stuff – the Manufaktura shopping center, the old factory museums, all those converted loft spaces that make Łódź worth visiting in the first place.

  For the price and the content, it was reaally good for one person.
  There is heating, warm water, privacy, mini fridge, a big and a small towel. There was even an Iron, im not sure if there is one always or uspon request. There is a kettle but I didn't see a hair dryer.
  Location is really good!
  
  What could be improved: Another roll of toalet paper would make my stay more comfortable since there was only one roll of bad quality paper so it was spending fast.
  Better check in instructions in English would be nice to have since I arrived very late and translation from Polish was not very accurate.

  Majitel byl moc milý, pomohl nám se dostat do ubytování. (je to jednoduché, jen my jsme zadávali špatný kód 😄)
  Pokoj byl hezký, vše bylo čisté.
  Lokalita byla také super.
  
  What could be improved: Když jsme vešli do vnitrobloku, tak jsme se trochu zděsili, ale samotné ubytování vypadalo moc pekne.
  Dlouho jsme nechávali odtect vodu, než jsme zjistili, že tepla a studená voda ve sprše jsou obracene.
  Topení vydavalo zvuky, které mě v noci budili.

  The room is very stuffy and you can hear all the neighbours. The renovation is nice, but it looks like it was done quickly. If you turn the faucet to cold water, the opposite of hot water comes out.
