DarkHouse Blue Overview

I’ll be honest – when I first walked up to DarkHouse Blue on Kilińskiego Street, I wasn’t entirely sure what to expect from the name. But you know what? Sometimes the most intriguingly named places turn out to be the real gems, and that’s exactly what happened here in Łódź’s Śródmieście district.

The location is actually pretty smart if you know the city at all. Kilińskiego runs right through the heart of things, so you’re within walking distance of Piotrkowska Street (which, let’s face it, is where you’ll probably end up most evenings anyway). What I really appreciated was how the hotel sits in this sweet spot where you get that central city energy without the constant tram noise that can drive you crazy in some of the busier areas. The check-in was refreshingly straightforward – none of that overly complicated key card system some places insist on, and the staff actually seemed to know the neighborhood well enough to give decent restaurant recommendations.

Here’s the thing about three-star hotels in Poland – they can really go either way, but DarkHouse Blue gets the basics right and then adds some thoughtful touches that make the difference. The rooms have this clean, modern feel without trying too hard to be trendy. I mean, the bed was genuinely comfortable (not just “fine for one night” comfortable), and there’s something to be said for blackout curtains that actually work properly. The bathroom setup was compact but well-designed – you know how some places seem to forget that real humans need to move around in there? Not an issue here. What struck me most was the attention to little details that suggest someone actually stays in these rooms occasionally to see how they function. The lighting works for both reading and getting ready, there are enough outlets near the bed, and the wifi doesn’t mysteriously cut out every few hours like it does at so many places in this price range.

Honestly, for what you’re paying and where you are in the city, it’s hard to argue with an 8-rating experience. Łódź itself is having this interesting moment where it’s still affordable compared to Warsaw or Kraków, but there’s genuine energy in the arts scene and food culture. DarkHouse Blue feels like it fits into that vibe perfectly – not trying to be flashy or overpriced, just doing hospitality well in a city that’s worth spending some real time in. If you’re planning to explore beyond just the main tourist circuit (and you should, because the converted factory spaces and local bars are where the real character is), this gives you a solid base without eating up half your travel budget on accommodation.

Best hotels in Lodz range from charming boutique properties in the historic Piotrkowska Street to elegant converted factory hotels with stunning views of the revitalized industrial districts.

Reviews of DarkHouse Blue

  • A practical place at a very good location – Annelies from Poland – April 18, 2025 (8/10)

We have enjoyed our stay in the apartment. As a family with 2 young children the 2 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms and kitchen facility are very practical. The location was absolutely fantastic for us. We also loved the option to pay a small fee for a parking spot nearby.

What could be improved: The apartment has clearly been designed with a good vision and the intention to make it very nice and beautiful, but unfortunately you can see wear and tear in many places.
The apartment was clean enough, towels and bedsheets were fresh and clean, but for example the showers are not functioning very well because the shower heads are full of lime scale.
The WiFi is not very strong and only working in the living room area.
Communication was a little difficult but ok in the end.

  • Pleasant – Elest from Czech Republic – March 25, 2025 (6/10)

It was clean. Very very good location and nice decoration.

What could be improved: 1. **Communication**: I reached out to the owner regarding parking options, but unfortunately, I did not receive a response. It would be helpful for future guests if this information was readily available.

    2. **Shower Issues**: The shower was not functioning properly during my stay.

    3. **WiFi Connectivity**: The WiFi was extremely unreliable, making it difficult for us to stay connected. We were unable to use it at all, which was quite inconvenient.

    4. **Main Entrance Security**: The main entrance door was supposed to operate using a code. However, we discovered that simply pushing the door opened it, which raised concerns about security.

    5. **Television Malfunction**: The TV in the room with the shower was not working at all, which was disappointing for our group.

    6. **Electrical Outlet Issue**: One of the electrical outlets in the bedroom (the one with the shower) was non-functional, which made it difficult to charge devices.

    7. **Supplies**: We found only two rolls of toilet paper provided for five adults over a two-day stay. This was insufficient and should be addressed for future guests.

Overall, while the property has potential, addressing these issues would greatly enhance the guest experience. I hope this feedback is helpful for the owner in making improvements.
