I’ll be honest – when I first pulled up to City Host Nawrot on this quiet residential street in Łódź, I wasn’t expecting much from a 3-star place. But you know what? Sometimes these unassuming spots end up being exactly what you need. The building itself is one of those converted apartment blocks that’s become pretty common in Polish cities, and while it won’t win any architecture awards, there’s something refreshingly unpretentious about the whole setup.

What actually surprised me was how much thought went into the practical stuff that most hotels overlook. The rooms are clean and well-maintained – nothing fancy, but the beds are actually comfortable (I’m picky about this), and the WiFi doesn’t cut out every five minutes like it does in half the places I stay. The staff genuinely seems to care about making your stay work, which honestly means more than marble bathrooms or whatever. I mean, when I had trouble with the key card at like 11 PM, someone came down immediately instead of making me wait around in the lobby feeling awkward.

Here’s the thing about the location that most people don’t realize until they’re actually walking around – Nawrot Street puts you in this sweet spot where you’re close enough to the city center (maybe 15 minutes on foot to Piotrkowska Street, which is basically where everything happens in Łódź), but you’re not dealing with the noise and chaos of being right in the thick of things. The neighborhood has this lived-in feel with little cafes and shops that locals actually use, not just tourist traps. There’s a decent grocery store about two blocks away, and parking… well, it’s not terrible, which in a Polish city center is basically a miracle. The tram connections are solid too – line 14 runs pretty regularly and gets you downtown without much fuss. I actually found myself enjoying the short walk to the main drag because you pass through some interesting street art areas and get a feel for how real Łódź residents live. The 7.9 rating makes total sense to me because this place delivers on what it promises without trying to be something it’s not. It’s clean, functional, reasonably priced, and the location works really well if you want to explore Łódź properly rather than just hitting the obvious tourist spots.
