So I stumbled onto Aparthotel Krzywa Kamienica during a business trip to Łódź last spring, and honestly – it completely changed how I think about aparthotels. The name literally means “Crooked Townhouse,” which had me wondering what I’d gotten myself into, but it turns out that’s exactly what makes this place so charming. It’s tucked away on Próchnika Street in what used to be the city’s industrial heart, and you know what? That location is actually perfect. You’re close enough to the revitalized Manufaktura complex (maybe a 10-minute walk) but far enough from the tourist crowds that you feel like you’re experiencing the real Łódź.

The building itself has this wonderful quirky character – I mean, they weren’t kidding about the “crooked” part. The floors have these slight slopes and the hallways curve in unexpected ways, but it’s been renovated so thoughtfully that all those old-world imperfections just add personality. My apartment had these massive windows that let in incredible light, and the kitchen was actually functional – not one of those fake kitchenettes where you can barely boil water. I ended up cooking dinner a couple nights because there’s a decent Żabka just around the corner, plus a proper grocery store about three blocks down. The Wi-Fi was solid (crucial for my video calls back to the States), and surprisingly, the street noise was minimal even though you’re in the city center.

What really impressed me was how the staff seemed to genuinely care about making your stay work. The woman at reception – I think her name was Monika – actually drew me a little map showing the best tram connections and circled this fantastic pierogi place that definitely wasn’t in any guidebook. That 9.3 rating makes total sense when you experience that kind of attention. The neighborhood comes alive in the evenings too, especially on weekends when locals head to the bars and cafes along nearby Piotrkowska Street. I’d stay here again without hesitation – it’s got that sweet spot of being comfortable and authentic without trying too hard to impress. Just don’t expect a typical chain hotel experience; this place has actual soul, crooked floors and all.

Hotel in Lodz booking should be done early, especially during film festival season when the city hosts internationally acclaimed cinematography events.

  The apartments were in a fabulous location walking distance to both Piortkowska and Manafactura. The apartments were very clean and had excellent facilities. The staff were all wonderful from the receptionists to the guys in the restaurant a thoroughly enjoyable stay.
