I’ll be honest – when I first pulled up to Apartament Verde on Gdańska Street, I wasn’t quite sure what to expect from this residential building tucked into Łódź’s Polesie district. The entrance is sort of understated, which actually turned out to be part of its charm. You’re not walking into some flashy lobby, but rather stepping into what feels like a well-maintained apartment complex where real people live – because, well, they do.

The thing about staying here is that you get this authentic slice of Polish city life without feeling like you’re roughing it. My unit (they’re all apartments, not traditional hotel rooms) had this lovely green theme that matched the name perfectly – think sage-colored accents and plants that someone clearly tends to regularly. The kitchen setup was honestly better than what I have at home, with a full-sized fridge and everything you’d need to whip up pierogi if you’re feeling ambitious. I mean, you’re in Poland after all. The location on Gdańska puts you in this interesting spot where you can walk to the main commercial areas without being right in the thick of tourist crowds. There’s a decent grocery store maybe five minutes away, and I discovered this little café around the corner that serves coffee strong enough to wake the dead – locals seemed to know about it, but I never saw another tourist there.

What really won me over was how quiet it gets at night. Łódź isn’t exactly a party town compared to Kraków or Warsaw, but even so, this street settles down nicely after dinner time. The windows are solid – I barely heard the trams running along the main routes. Speaking of trams, you’re actually pretty well connected here. The public transport will get you to Manufaktura shopping center in about fifteen minutes, and if you’re planning day trips to other Polish cities, the main train station isn’t too far either. Parking was surprisingly manageable too, which anyone who’s driven in Polish cities will tell you is no small thing. The 7.8 rating makes sense to me – it’s not luxury, but it delivers exactly what it promises. The check-in process was refreshingly straightforward, and when my bathroom faucet started acting up on the second day, someone came to fix it within a couple hours. You know what impressed me most though? The attention to small details, like having proper blackout curtains and enough electrical outlets near the bed. These sound like tiny things until you’re trying to charge your phone and camera while getting decent sleep after walking around the city all day.

  What could be improved: dirty, scratched walls; strange smell everywhere, especially bed linens; parking spot was extra paid – misleading add; smell of trash welcomes visitors arriving via the main entrance; the lock in the main door doesn't always work

  Wszystko było w najlepszym porządku. Kontakt super. Wygodny apartament, blisko centrum. Cisza i spokój. Jedynym minusem, ale to nie jest argument aby tam nie jechać jest rogówka w salonie do odświeżenia i niewygodna do spania, stolik kawowy do wymiany. Pozarym łóżka w sypialniach bardzo wygodnie, łazienka duża z wanną jest wielkim plusem.

  Duże, przestronne mieszkanie, wyposażona kuchnia aby zrobić śniadanie. Taras, wygodne duże łóżka w sypialniach.
  
  What could be improved: Jeden minus za łazienkę. Brak prysznica tylko wanna z ceratową zasłonką, którą wtrzeba włożyć do wanny podczas mycia bo inaczej cała łazienka zalana..

  Great apartment, clean, comfortable, bright and airy. Location is close to trams, making it easy to explore the city. Host was great too.
  
  What could be improved: Plumper pillows would have made it more comfortable, but that's maybe down to our preferences.

  Good location, not far from city center. Neighborhood is a little bit noisy, but it wasn't troubling.
  Nice park nearby to walk with a dog.
  It's big advantage that you can stay with dog in apartment and it's free.
  For 4 adults, 1 child and 1 dog it was enough place to live.
  
  What could be improved: Furniture requires renewal, beds and pillows were uncomfortable, mold on top of the windows.
  Also parking is not guaranteed. It's not so easy to get parking place even for money.
  We arrived at 4 pm on Friday and we couldn't get free parking place in the front of the building. We asked for hotel that is nearby to let us park for money, but they allow parking only for cars of hotel guests.
  Curtains and windows were dirty.
  Bath is also dirty. Some walls and floor are damaged or dirty, so they also need to be fixed or repainted.
  We had some bad communication experience with owners. They were not motivated to help or provide any information about parking.
  
  Overall, we would not like to come back.

  Good location, close to Piotrkowska Street, shopping center Galeria Lodzka and two cinemas (Helios & Multikino).
  Flat is nice with pleasant temperature during hot weather.

  Location was walking distance to the atlas arena, bars and restaurants. If you don't like walking taxis were cheap too.
  Appartment was clean, had everything we needed and was very spacious. We didn't cook but all the equipment was there if you wanted to.
  
  What could be improved: The only thing I could fault was there was only 1 pillow per bed. Could have done with a selection of pillows to choose from.
