Apartament 55 Overview

So I stumbled across Apartament 55 during one of my stays in Łódź, and honestly, it turned out to be one of those pleasant surprises you don’t expect from a 3-star place. The building sits on Zarzewska street – you know, that quieter residential area that’s actually perfectly positioned if you want to experience Łódź like locals do rather than just hitting the main tourist spots. I mean, you’re still close enough to walk to Piotrkowska Street (maybe 15 minutes on foot), but you get to sleep without the weekend crowd noise that comes with staying right in the thick of things.

What really got me about this place was how they’ve managed to make each apartment feel like, well, an actual apartment rather than just another cookie-cutter hotel room. The one I stayed in had this lived-in comfort – good-sized windows that let in plenty of light, a kitchenette that’s actually functional (not just for show), and furniture that doesn’t look like it came from the same catalog as every other budget hotel. The beds are surprisingly decent too, which honestly matters more than people admit when you’re doing a lot of walking around the city. There’s something refreshing about having space to spread out your stuff instead of living out of a suitcase for days on end. Parking was straightforward – street parking mostly, but the neighborhood’s pretty calm so I never had issues finding a spot within a block or two.

Here’s the thing though – this isn’t the kind of place where you’ll get 24/7 concierge service or daily housekeeping, but that 7.9 rating makes sense when you consider what you’re actually getting for the price point. The check-in process was smooth, the place was clean, and the staff seemed to genuinely care about making sure everything worked properly. You’re basically getting the independence of having your own little space in Łódź without paying apartment rental prices or dealing with complicated booking procedures. It’s particularly good if you’re planning to stay more than just a night or two – having that kitchen means you can grab groceries from the local shops and not feel obligated to eat out every single meal. Plus, being in a residential area, you get a better sense of how the city actually flows day to day, rather than just seeing the polished tourist version.

  Jedynym plusem jest dobry standard wykończenia mieszkania.
  
  What could be improved: Budynek jest w ruinie (drewniane schody niebezpieczne, śliskie i w złym stanie, brak windy smród na korytarzu, niebezpieczne sąsiedztwo). Mieszkanie jest na 2 piętrze, trzeba nieść bagaże po bardzo niebezpiecznych schodach. Słychać absolutnie wszystko zza ścian. Okno wychodzi na przejście z sygnalizacją, która od 6 rano nieznośnie pika co minutę, co uniemożliwia sen. W mieszkaniu jest rozkładana sofa w ramach łóżka, koszmarnie niewygodna. Dodatkowo poszycie sofy brudne – całe w okruchach i psich kłakach po rozłożeniu. W łazience armatura również niedomyta. Nie umożliwiono mi ani wcześniejszego zameldowania, ani późniejszego wymeldowania.

  The accommodation is located in the industrial district. It si not great, but acceptable.
  
  What could be improved: We received instructions about entering the place in Polish. I think, it would be appropriate to have an English version for foreigners. We were not able to enter the parking. We were lucky that Polish people were very nice and helped us. Our Polish friends had some application allowing them to enter the parking. We had not received any information about this application. We had paid for a double bed. There was only an uncomfortable sofa in our room.

  What could be improved: It was cold, the only positive thing is movable heater, which I moved closer to the bed, but at nights it still was super cold, had to sleep in full clothes, other than that everything was good.
