Honestly, I wasn’t expecting much when I first pulled up to Abton Hotel on Prądzyńskiego Street – it’s tucked away in this quiet residential area of Łódź that most tourists never see. But you know what? Sometimes the best finds are the ones hiding in plain sight. The building itself has this understated charm that grows on you, and after spending a few nights there, I get why locals recommend it to their visiting friends.

What really struck me was how the staff actually seemed to care about getting the details right. Check-in was smooth (none of that awkward hovering while they figure out the computer system), and the guy at the front desk knew exactly which tram stops would get me to Piotrkowska Street fastest – saved me a good twenty minutes of wandering around with my phone GPS acting up. The rooms are what you’d expect from a solid three-star place, but cleaner than some four-star hotels I’ve stayed at, if I’m being honest. The beds are surprisingly comfortable, and – this might sound weird – but the shower pressure is actually decent, which is rarer than it should be in European hotels.

Location-wise, you’re about a fifteen-minute walk from the main tourist strip, which I actually preferred. Prądzyńskiego is lined with these beautiful old tenement buildings, and there’s a small café two blocks down that serves the best sernik I had during my entire stay in Poland. The neighborhood gets properly quiet at night (no drunk party groups stumbling past your window), but you’re still close enough to everything that matters. I mean, Łódź isn’t exactly sprawling, so even being a bit outside the center doesn’t hurt. There’s decent parking on the street if you’re driving, though it gets tighter in the evenings when residents come home from work. The 9 out of 10 rating this place gets makes total sense once you factor in the price point – you’re getting genuine hospitality and attention to detail without paying premium rates for a fancy lobby you’ll barely use anyway.
